Women’s Golf In Third Place At Halfway Mark of NCAA Championships

The Gustavus women’s golf team is in third place after the second day of the NCAA Division III Championships which are being held at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida (a suburb of Orlando). The Gusties fired a second round team score of 332 for a 36-hole total of 331-332–663.

Katie Schenfeld is in ninth place individually.

The Gustavus women’s golf team is in third place after the second day of the NCAA Division III Championships which are being held at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida (a suburb of Orlando).  The Gusties fired a second round team score of 332 for a 36-hole total of 331-332–663.  Gustavus trails first place Methodist by 13 strokes as the Monarchs have fashioned a 36-hole total of 317-333-650.  UW-Eau Claire is in second place at 331-320–651.

Gustavus junior Katie Schenfeld is currently in ninth place with a total of 78-83–161.  Sophomore Taylor Drenttel is in a tie for tenth place with a total of 82-80–162 and freshman Annie Jackson is in a tie for 23rd with a total of 82-85–167.  Other scores for Gustavus included Amanda Woodhull in 40th place at 89-84–173 and Kali Griggs in 59th place at 90-89–179.

The 72-hole national tournament continues tomorrow and concludes on Friday.

Gustavus, which entered the tournament ranked #2 in the most recent National Golf Coaches Association poll, finished third at last year’s NCAA Championship.
