Rust Finishes Tenth At MIAC Decathlon

Gustavus Adolphus outdoor track and field athlete Colin Rust finished in tenth place at the MIAC Decathlon with a total of 4493 points on Friday in Northfield, Minn. Ryan Ness scored a total of 4389 points to take 12th place, while St. Thomas’ Devin Dirth won the Decathlon with a total of 5838 points.

Gustavus Adolphus outdoor track and field athlete Colin Rust finished in tenth place at the MIAC Decathlon with a total of 4493 points on Friday in Northfield, Minn.  Ryan Ness scored a total of 4389 points to take 12th place, while St. Thomas Devin Dirth won the Decathlon with a total of 5838 points.  

Rust fell two spots in day two, scoring a day-two total of 1921 points.  In day two, Rust took fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (20.43), sixth in the discus (80’ 4.25”), eighth in the javelin (123’ 11”), and 13th in both the pole vault (9’ 7”) and 1500-meter run (5:10.57). 

Ness, who finished day one with a total of 2356 points, compiled 2033 points in day two.  He finished third in the 110-meter hurdles (19.80), eighth in the pole vault (10’ 6.75”),  ninth in both the discus (75’ 0.50”) and javelin (122’ 7”), and 11th in the 1500 meter run (5:05.79).  

The Gustavus men’s outdoor track and field team will compete at the 2010 MIAC Championships hosted by Saint Mary’s on Friday and Saturday, May 14-15, in Winona, Minn.
