STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Both the Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams sit in second place after Friday’s first session of the Point Invite, hosted by UW-Stevens Point. The Gustie women have 370 points and trail Hillsdale College with 423, while the Gustie men have 441 points and trail the host Pointers with 648 points.

The Gustie women started the meet with a first place finish in the 200 free relay as the team of Ellen Hofstede (Sr., Saint Paul), Marit Isaacson (So., Saint Paul), Alison Gilles (So., Wausau, Wis.), and Lucy Peterson (Jr., Saint Paul) touched the wall in 1:38.73. Hofstede also won the 100 free in 53.56. Isaacson placed third in the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.97 and third in the 100 backstroke at 1:01.77. Leah Soukup (Jr., Eagan) and Lindsay Sundby (Fy., Cannon Falls) took second and third, respectively, in the 200 breaststroke at 2:36.85 and 2:37.00.

The men’s 200 free relay team of Andrew Becker (Sr., Northfield), Erik Small (Sr., Hudson, Wis.), Jack Christoferson (Fy., Sauk Rapids), and Dane Hudson (Sr., Eden Prairie) took second in 1:28.11. Matt Strom (Jr., Rochester) won the 500 free in 4:48.04. Callen Zemek (Sr., Victoria) (4:49.20) and Ryan Kawlewski (Sr., Sauk Rapids) (4:57.14) took second and third. Peyton Richardson (Jr., Crystal Lake, Ill.) finished second in the 200 IM at 2:00.50 and second in the 100 backstroke at 55.09. Nyden Hill (So., Conway, Ark.) finished second in the breaststroke at 2:16.12 with Tyler Teichmiller (Jr., Woodruff, Wis.) behind in third at 2:16.99. Becker finished third in the 100 free with a time of 48.85.

Saturday’s two sessions begin at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
