Gustie Track Competes in Carleton Relays Posted on April 23rd, 2022 by

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Both the Gustavus women’s and men’s track teams had strong showings in a conference meet at Carleton on Saturday, competing in the best temps they’ve seen all season.

Birgen Nelson won in three events, the 100m, 200m and 100 hurdles while Danielle Miller set new personal bests in the 100m (12.96) and the 100 hurdles.

Madi Kes continued to be a dominating force winning in both the long jump (4.97m) and the triple jump (10.97m).

In the women’s 5k, Gustavus pushed through and gave their best effort despite brutal wind conditions and Evelyn Villalobos won the event. Additionally,  Olivia Thomley anchored the women’s 4×1 in the Gustie rally. 

Alli Graff posted a season best in pole vault (2.81m), while Annika Poe won in shot-put (13.84) and recorded a personal best in discus (39.20). Rachel Erickson added on a personal best and win as well with a top throw in javelin (34.98).

On the men’s side, Xander DuMoulin made his first appearance of the season, setting the tone high with a 21’6.25 jump to take the win. 

Josh Beiswanger  set a new season best in the hammer throw (52.86m), winning the event while Connor Gag placed fifth in discus (39.20m).

The Gustie men had a stellar performance in the 5k, led by Garet Grant. 

Calvin Moeller was a top finisher for the Gusties in the 400 hurdles.

Dominc Flentje, Danny Bies, David Peal, Nathan Le, Isaiah Subah, and Matthew Skelly all contributed to the Gustavus success in the 100m. Wyatt Quiring’s 50.2 second leg time and Dylan Gast on anchor (50.67) led the team to victory in the 4×4.
