WAYZATA, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s golf team finished in fifth place out of 21 teams in the final round of the Twin Cities Classic after carding 302-303-306-911. Saint John’s won the tournament shooting 292-297-299-888. Jacob Pedersen (Sr., Minnetonka) tied in third individually out of 120 golfers carding 71-75-75-221.
“We posted the second lowest team score of the day, Wayzata was a blast to play but it was tough,” said Head Coach Scott Moe. “We moved up a few places and saw some good things today which is a building spot heading into the weekend. We saw a few putts made. JP finished 3rd which was a nice finish. Ullan and Andrew Hoppe (Jr., Mankato) also had strong finishes in the top 20. I think we’ve put a lot of pressure on ourselves to go low, when we need to be comfortable and confident in our process and good things will happen. We will prepare for the MIAC tourney the next few days and embrace the chance to compete for a title.”
Max Ullan (Sr., Blaine) placed fourteenth shooting 76-74-76-226 while Wyatt Wasko (Jr., Lake Elmo) carded 76-77-78-231 to tie in 26th. Sam Skaar (Sr., Coleraine) shot 79-77-78-234 and Tommy Hiniker (So., Edina) scored 84-80-77-241.
The Gusties will next compete at the MIAC Championship beginning on Saturday.
