ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s hockey team ended their season Thursday with a 3-2 loss to St. Thomas. With the loss the Gusties end their season at 11-12-3 overall.

Gustavus got the scoring started in the contest, with 5:25 remaining in the first period off a Brenden Payne (So., Plainfield, Ill.) goal to take the early lead. It took less than 30 seconds for St. Thomas to answer, as the Tommies knotted things up at one. Robbie Goor (Jr., Anoka) made 15 saves in the first period as the home team outshot Gustavus 16-10.

The second period was all Tommies though, as they scored just under four minutes in and then with three minutes remaining in the period to hold a 3-1 lead after the second.

The Gusties would fight back late in the third quarter, as Mason Etter found the back of the net with three minutes remaining with assists going to Nick Klishko (Jr., San Diego, Calif.) and Caleb Anderson (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D.). The Gusties would pull Goor with time winding down and get a few shots off but the Tommie goaltender saved them to secure the victory.

Goor made 33 saves in net in the contest in the loss.
