MANKATO, Minn. – A small group of the Gustavus men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams kicked off the indoor season Saturday at the Chuck Peterson Open & Multi, hosted by Minnesota State-Mankato. Three athletes on the men’s team and five from the women’s squad competed on Saturday with six Gusties setting personal bests and four winning their event. Taylor Rooney (60m hurdles) and Tierney Winter (mile) both set school records in their respective event.
“With the wonderful cross country season and now this first indoor track meet, we have established incredible momentum in our program,” said Head Coach Aaron Lund. “Our team is rallying around each other and they are excited to help propel this program forward. I am proud of the way our athletes competed today. They are smart, talented, hardworking student-athletes that strive to be the very best version of themselves. With their total commitment to the team and their aspiration to be great, I am excited about everything we will be able to accomplish this year.”
