Golf Teams to Take Part in Competitive Invitationals This Weekend

The Gustavus men’s and women’s golf teams are both in action this weekend. The men will take part in the Saint John’s Fall Invitational, played at Greystone Golf Club and Black Berry Ridge, while the women are competing in the St. Kate’s Invite at the Wilds Golf Club. Both tournaments run Saturday and Sunday.

SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s and women’s golf teams are both in action this weekend. The men will take part in the Saint John’s Fall Invitational, played at Greystone Golf Club and Black Berry Ridge, while the women are competing in the St. Kate’s Invite at the Wilds Golf Club. Both tournaments run Saturday and Sunday.

The SJU Fall Invite features 22 teams from 17 different institutions – all in the Midwest Region. Three of the teams, No. 15 Saint John’s, No. 22 St. Thomas, and No. 25 UW-Eau Claire, are ranked in the GCAA Coaches Poll. Gustavus received votes in latest poll and would be ranked No. 28.

Last weekend at the Pioneer Creek Collegiate, the Gusties took second place as a team. Max Ullan (Jr., Blaine) paced the Gusties, carding a one-under 73-70-72-215 to take 15th place out of 94 golfers. Ullan posted the fourth best score among Division III competitors. Khrystjan Petersen (Fy., Faribault) tied for 27th at 74-70-76-220. Jacob Pedersen (So., Minnetonka) gradually improved his scores at 77-74-70-221 for a 31st place tie and Ben Hauge (Sr., Ramsey) rounded out the top-four with a 73-84-75-232.

The St. Kate’s Invite includes 13 teams from the Midwest Region, highlighted by nationally ranked No. 9 Carleton, No. 15 St. Catherine, No. 18 Bethel, and No. 23 Gustavus.

Last weekend at the Division III Classic, the Gusties took fourth place as Erin Ericson (So., Onalaska, Wis.) captured her first career medalist honor, carding a three-over 75-72-147 to win the field of 90 golfers. Emily Kratz (So., Edina) tallied her third career top-10, tying for eighth with a 79-75-154. Sydney Regalado (So., Rosemount) tied for 17th at 78-80-158 and Laurel Ward (Fy., Bozeman, Mt.) wrapped up the Gustie scoring at 85-83-168, tying for 48th.
