SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s and women’s track & field teams are set to compete at the MIAC Outdoor Championships on Friday and Saturday at the University of St. Thomas. The two-day event begins at 2 p.m. Friday with final field events and preliminary track events. Saturday’s events begin at 2 p.m. as well with both days wrapping up competition at approximately 7:30 p.m.

On the men’s side, Michael Hensch (Sr., North Branch, Minn.) and Taylor Rooney (So., Andover, Minn.) are two to keep an eye on. Hensch ranks in the MIAC’s top two in all four throwing events. He’s No. 1 in the discus with a throw nine feet further than the next person and is No. 2 in the shot put, hammer throw, and javelin. Rooney leads the MIAC in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.29, which is .8 seconds faster than the next competitor. He is also fourth in the high jump at 6-4.75.
On the women’s side, throwers Katie Keelin (Jr., Burnsville, Minn.) and Annalee Olson-Sola (Fy., Northfield, Minn.) rank first in the MIAC in the hammer throw and javelin, respectively. Olson-Sola is also No. 2 in the shot put. The 4×800 relay team of Sara Moen (So., Blaine, Minn.), Tierney Winter (Jr., Waterville, Minn.), Megan Hill (Jr., Denver, Colo.), and Abbie Schnabel (Sr., Hamburg, Minn.) rank first in the MIAC with a time of 9:25.36.
