FRIDAY RESULTS

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s track & field team sits in a tie for fourth place after day one of the MIAC Indoor Championships with 46 points. St. Thomas leads the field with 103 points.

“We are ecstatic with how the men performed tonight,” Head Coach Dale Bahr said. “We had some young guys scrap for points and they earned them today.”

Taylor Rooney (So., Andover, Minn.) highlighted Friday for the Gusties, claiming conference titles in the high jump and 60-meter hurdles. Rooney’s preliminary 60 hurdles time of 8.14 broke his previous MIAC meet record set last year. Michael Hensch (Sr., North Branch, Minn.) also earned All-Conference by taking third in the weight throw.

“Taylor is doing exactly what we expect him to do,” Bahr said. “He’s not taking for granted that he’s the top dog in those events. It’s nice to rely on him. He did such a great job of keeping his composure by competing in both of his events at the same time.”
