WAVERLY, Iowa – The Gustie women’s golf team had a much better day today posting a score 14 strokes lower than yesterday’s 325. Carleton won the event with a 593 and the Gusties finished in sixth with a 636.

Coach Randy Stuckey commented on the performance following the round, “Today was a much better day for our women, as their score of 311 was a big improvement from yesterday. It was led by our upper class golfers who posted good scores but also our three first year golfers performed well as they continue to learn about collegiate golf.”

Morgan Bleyhl (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) ended as the teams overall leader as she shot a 76 on Sunday which gave her a 155 total that was good for a tie for 16th place overall. Erin Ericson (Fy., Onalaska, Wis.) had another solid day posting an 82 and her total of 159 put her in a tie for 27th place. Emily Kratz (Fy., Edina, Minn.) led the Gusties on the second day and posted a 75 which put her in a tie for 29th with a total score of 160. Ellie Brandt (Sr., Wayzata, Minn.), Sydney Regalado (Fy., Rosemount, Minn.), and Kennedy Sommerfeld (Sr., Litchfield, Minn.) rounded out the Gusties scoring on day two posting rounds of 78, 82, and 84 respectively.

“The field in the tournament was very strong and it was good to get this team in the middle of the action,” Stuckey said.

The Gusties will next be in action next weekend, Sept. 15-16, for the Division III Classic in Lake City, Minn.
