Swimming & Diving Hosts Final Invitational Before Conference Meet Posted on February 2nd, 2018 by

ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s and women’s swim & dive teams are set for their final tune-up before the MIAC Championships, hosting an invitational on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s session begins at 6 p.m., while the two Saturday sessions are 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Vic Gustafson Pool. Other teams competing include Carleton, Saint Mary’s, and St. Olaf.

Both the Gustie men and women are coming of MIAC dual wins last Saturday at home against Saint John’s and Saint Ben’s. The men won 205.5-102.5 and the women won 205-97. Kate Reilly highlighted the women’s squad by winning all four events she competed in, and for her efforts she was awarded MIAC Athlete of the Week. Tanner Sonnek and Nolan Larson paced the men’s squad with three wins apiece. Sonnek won the 100 and 200 breaststrokes, Larson won the 500 freestyle and 200 IM, while both were members of the winning 200 medley relay team.

The Gusties also were recognized for their performance outside the pool and in the classroom, being named CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams for the 2017 fall semester. The men posted a 3.25 team GPA and the women posted a 3.32.
