BLAINE, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s hockey team concluded play at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Showcase Saturday evening with a 1-1 draw against Concordia College Saturday evening.

Similar to Friday evening’s game, the Gusties had contribution on the score sheet from newcomers. After leading 7-3 in shots on goal in the first period, Gustavus eventually broke through late in the second.

Logan Norman (Fy., Luverne, Minn.) recorded his first collegiate goal while help from Jake Bushey (Sr., Duluth, Minn.) to put the Gusties on the board.

Early into the final frame, the Cobbers drew a Gustie penalty and capitalized. Zach Doerring knotted the score at 1-1, putting one past Gustie goaltender Robbie Goor (Fy., Andover, Minn.), who made his first collegiate start.

The Cobbers outshot the Black and Gold in the third, but Goor and the Gustie defense stood tall, forcing an overtime period. The two teams were held scoreless in the extra period and were led to a shootout. Bushey notched the shootout game-winner for bragging rights, as the game stands as an official non-conference draw.

The Gusties, now 0-1-1 overall, open MIAC play next weekend with a series with St. Olaf College.
