ST. Host Saint John’s leads the field after day one with a 292, while Augsburg and UW-Eau Claire are tied for second at 295.
Chris Captain (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) leads the Gusties after shooting a 75 (+3) and is tied for 18th. Alex Koopmeiners (Sr., St. Cloud, Minn.) is tied for 28th with a 76, Ben Hauge (Fy., Ramsey, Minn.) and Sam Majka (Sr., Wayzata, Minn.) are tied for 42nd at 78, and Alec Aunan (Jr., Rock Island, Ill.) is tied for 64th at 81.
“Not the start we wanted today,” Head Coach Scott Moe said. “That just means we need to battle right away tomorrow and set the tone for a great day. We were just a little off on our putts, we burned a lot of edges, and looking for those to find the bottom of the cup tomorrow. Chris came back and was three-under par in his last seven holes.”
Gustavus concludes play tomorrow at the Monticello Country Club.
