BECKER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team concluded play at the Battle At The Creek tournament at Pebble Creek Golf Course Saturday, firing a team score of 322 in the final round.

The Gusties and Carleton College faced off in match play and lost by a score of 3-2.

Mae Meierhenry (Sr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) lost two down, Jessica Nelson (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) lost two and one, and Kristen Cash (Fy., Roseville, Minn.) lost three and two. McKenzie Swenson (Jr., Buffalo, Minn.) won two and one while Mallory Drenttel (Sr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) won three and two.

“By far the best round of golf we have had this year as a team,” said Head Coach Scott Moe.  “Our five players combined for +15 for the day. Everyone played well and we played with confidence. Carleton is a very good team, ranked No. 12 in the country and we hung with them until the final hole. I am very proud and looking forward to teeing it up again next weekend.”

Next weekend, the Gusties are set to compete in Bethel’s Royal Match at Deer Run Golf Club in Victoria, Minn.
