NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s basketball team lost 79-60 at Carleton on Saturday, dropping to 3-11 overall and 3-6 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while the Knights improve to 5-8 overall and 2-6 in the league.
Riley Sharbono (So., Marshall, Minn.) led the Gusties with a career-high 26 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. Alec Koster (Sr., Redwood Falls, Minn.) hauled in a career-high 12 rebounds, while Peter Kruize (Sr., St. Peter, Minn.) added 15 points off the bench.
Gustavus held a 23-17 lead with 7:21 remaining in the first half, but 15 unanswered points by the Knights gave the home team all the momentum and a lead it would not relinquish. The Gusties shot 40.4 percent from the floor (23-57), including 6-of-14 from three-point range. The Knights out-rebounded the Gusties 37-32 and forced 15 turnovers compared to committing six.
Gustavus next travels to Hamline University for a 7 p.m. tipoff Monday in St. Paul.
