NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Gustavus men’s cross country team enters the USTFCCCA Division III National Coach’s Poll for the first time since November of 1990, as released today. The Gusties rank No. 23 in the Week Two NCAA Coaches’ Poll.

In 1990, Gustavus finished in second place at the central regional meet to qualify for the NCAA Division III national meet, earning a 14th place national ranking.

Thomas Knobbe (Sr., Decorah, Iowa) and the senior class have set the pace for the Gusties in the first three meets of the season with top-five team finishes in each. Knobbe posted back-to-back MIAC Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors and recently placed third overall out of 290 participants at the St. Olaf Invitational.

“Since we’ve brought in the senior class, they’ve had one common goal which is to go to nationals and to make a change in the program, and they really have,” said Head Coach Dale Bahr.
