The Gustavus men's and women's cross country squads are set to travel to Northfield, Minn. Saturday to compete in the Running of the Cows on Carleton Arboretum on the campus of Carleton College.
The Gustavus men's cross country team enters the USTFCCCA Division III National Coaches' Poll for the first time since November of 1990, as released today. The Gusties rank No. 23 in the Week Two NCAA Coaches' Poll.
The Gustavus men’s cross country team took fifth place out of 20 teams at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, scoring 117 points. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire won the event, Michigan Tech took second, and Minnesota-Duluth placed third. Host St. Olaf was in fourth place, 19 points ahead of Gustavus.
Gustavus men's and women's cross country teams travel to Northfield, Minn. Saturday to compete in the St. Olaf College Invitational at the St. Olaf Cross Country Trails. The women will run the 6k at 10 a.m. and the men will run the 8 at 11 a.m.
Thomas Knobbe continued his red-hot start to the fall season with another great performance, another victory, and another MIAC weekly honor – his second in a row. The Gustie senior finished first in a field of 67 runners consisting of the Gustavus and Saint John's teams as well as Gustie alumni. He finished the 5k course in 15:53.2, and helped his team finish with a total of 21 points to defeat the Johnnies (44) and GAC Alumni Team (67). Knobbe won the race by nearly six seconds.
The Gustavus men's and women's cross country teams ran along side Gustie alumni Saturday morning at the Linneaus Arboretum on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College. The Gustie men and women both placed ahead of the alumni.

The Gustavus men's cross country team and senior star Thomas Knobbe (Sr., Decorah, Iowa) both started the 2016 season in style at the Crown Invite. Knobbe was the top Division III runner with a time of 26:46, and he finished second overall in the 80-runner field. The Gusties had similar success, finishing second in the five-team field. Both Knobbe and his team were second only to the University of Minnesota-Duluth, a Division II opponent. For his performance, Knobbe was named MIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete-of-the-Week.
