ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus baseball team’s doubleheader at the University of Wisconsin- Superior scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday has been cancelled due to expected inclement weather. Since the non-conference doubleheader was last on the schedule, the Gusties complete their 2016 campaign with a 20-18 overall record and 9-11 mark in the MIAC, which tied for sixth in the league standings.

Gustavus reached to 20-win mark for the 11th time in 89 documented seasons of the program’s history. The Gusties also finished with a winning record for the first time since 2008. Under the direction of newly-hired Head Coach Brad Baker, skippering the Gusties for the first time since 1981, Gustavus improved from a .389 winning percentage in 2015 to a .526 winning percentage this season. The Gusties also moved up in the league after finishing ninth last season.

Coach Baker and the Gusties wrapped up the 2016 season in an impressive way, winning their final six games, including a sweep over No. 15 nationally ranked St. Thomas. The six-game winning streak is the longest since the Gusties won nine straight during the 2008 season.
