Women’s Track & Field Takes Fourth At Carleton’s Meet Of The Hearts

The Gustavus women’s track and field team took fourth place out of eight teams at Carleton’s Meet of the Hearts on Saturday. “We looked good overall with a few first place finishes and we have a bit of depth in areas,” Head Coach Dale Bahr said. “This gives us an idea of where we are at against similar competition.”

The Gustavus men’s track and field team took third place out of seven teams at Carleton’s Meet of the Hearts on Saturday. “The men had a very strong showing again,” Head Coach Dale Bahr said. “We are in mid-season form right now and seeing where everybody is at within the conference. So we’re looking to continue to push these guys through this part of the season. We ran a lot of people in a bunch of different events to see where they fall.”

Women’s Hockey Drops Tight Affair To Bethel 3-2

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s hockey team fell to Bethel University in their second meeting of the weekend on Saturday afternoon at Don Roberts Ice Rink. Bethel took the win with a score of 3-2, bringing the Royals to 12-9-2 overall and 10-4-2 in the MIAC and dropping the Gusties to 8-11-4 overall and 7-6-3 in the league.

Women’s Basketball Takes Second Consecutive 30-Point Win With 75-41 Win Over Hamline

The Gustavus Adolphus College women's basketball team earned its second consecutive 30-point win on Saturday afternoon with a 75-41 victory over Hamline University at Gus Young Court. The win clinches the Gusties a home playoff game and they improve to 17-6 overall and 12-4 in the MIAC. The Pipers fall to 3-20 overall and 1-15 in the league.

Men’s Basketball Erases 20-Point Deficit, Defeats Hamline 101-91 In Overtime

Saturday afternoon’s MIAC men’s basketball game against Hamline University didn’t start well for Gustavus as the visiting Pipers raced to a double-digit advantage, leading by as much as 19 points in the first half. Hamline took a 20-point lead in the second, it’s largest of the game, but the Gusties showed pride and determination to erase that deficit and tie the game 74-74 with 3:19 left in regulation. Trailing 83-80 after a timeout and eight seconds on the game clock, Chris Narum (Sr., Eagan, Minn.) played the role of the hero as he sunk an off-balance fade-away three to tie the game with just five seconds on the clock, sending it to overtime. Having lost their previous two overtime contests this season, the Gusties flipped the script and went on to claim a 101-91 victory to improve to 10-13 overall and 7-11 in the MIAC.

Men’s Basketball Begins Three-Game Home Stand Saturday Against Hamline

The Gustavus men’s basketball team begins a three-game home stand Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. for game two of the season series against Hamline. The Gusties won game one of the series 85-70 on Jan. 9 in St. Paul. The Gusties enter the matchup with a 9-13 overall record and 6-11 mark in the MIAC, while the Pipers are 4-18 overall and 2-15 in the league. Tennis Teams Host Home Openers On Saturday

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's and women's tennis teams open their home schedules on Saturday at the Swanson Tennis Center. The men open the day with an 8:30 a.m. match against UW-Eau Claire, while the women round out the afternoon with two matches against Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls University at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., respectively. The game was tied 1-1 after the first frame, but the Gusties took off, scoring two second period goals, and netted another two in the third, earning a three-goal win over the Royals. The win brings Gustavus to 6-12-4 overall and 5-6-2 in the conference, while Bethel falls to 2-18-2 overall and 1-12-0 in the league.

Gymnastics Posts Season-High On Vault In Dual Loss To UW-La Crosse

The Gustavus gymnastics team dropped a dual meet at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Friday evening by the score of 179.475-188.250. The loss drops to the Gusties to 1-4 in WIAC dual meets this season, while the Eagles improve to a league-leading 4-0.
