Men’s Basketball Topples Saint John’s 63-62 In Final Seconds

To say the past four games for the Gustavus men’s basketball team have been exciting would just scratch the surface of describing them. Two overtime games and another decided on the last shot led to a similar ending Wednesday as the Gusties defeated Saint John’s 63-62, taking the lead with four seconds on the clock on a Brody Ziegler (Sr., Mankato, Minn.) put-back, and then watching the Johnnies’ final shot at the buzzer clank off the rim. The victory improves the Gusties to 11-13 overall and 8-11 in the MIAC, while the Johnnies fall to 17-7 overall and 12-7 in the league.

Women’s Swimming & Diving Seeks Seventh Straight Title At MIAC Championships

The Gustavus women’s swimming & diving team is set to participate in the 2016 MIAC Championships on Thursday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center, which runs through Saturday. The Gusties are seeking their seventh consecutive MIAC crown after edging second place St. Thomas last season by 41.5 points.

Men’s Swimming & Diving Set To Compete At MIAC Championships

The Gustavus men’s swimming & diving team is set to participate in the 2016 MIAC Championships on Thursday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center, which runs through Saturday. The Gusties took fifth places last season with a total of 487 points, while St. Thomas is the defending champion, posting 808 points last year.

Alhouni, Baker Earn MIAC Tennis Athlete Of The Week Honors

Gustavus Adolphus College men's and women's tennis players Mohanad Alhouni (So., Tripoli Libya) and Ally Baker (So., Rosemount, Minn.) were honored with the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's tennis Athlete of the Week honors as chosen by the league's sports information directors Tuesday.

Women’s Basketball Looks To Avenge Early Season OT Loss To Saint Benedict On Wednesday

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team takes on the College of St. Benedict on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at Claire Lynch Hall, with tipoff set for 7 p.m. The Gusties enter the contest looking to avenge their 70-61 overtime loss earlier this season to the Blazers and head to Saint Joseph with a 17-6 overall record and 12-4 mark in the conference, while the Blazers come into the game at 14-9 overall and 9-7 in the MIAC.

Men’s Basketball Hosts Saint John’s Wednesday

The Gustavus men’s basketball team hosts its final weekday game of the season at 7 p.m. Wednesday for game two of the season series against Saint John’s. The Johnnies won game one of the series 87-83 on Jan. 20 in Collegeville, Minn. The Gusties enter the matchup with a 10-13 overall record and 7-11 mark in the MIAC, while the Johnnies are 17-6 overall and 12-6 in the league. Gustavus is coming off a thrilling 101-91 overtime win over Hamline, while the Johnnies defeated Concordia 75-64 last Saturday.

Gymnastics Tallies Third Highest Team Score In Program History, Defeats Hamline 183.4-181.725

After posting steady team scores between 178-180 in its last three meets, the Gustavus gymnastics team broke out Sunday for a 183.400-181.725 victory over Hamline University, tying the third highest team score in program history. The Gusties posted season-high scores on the bars (44.875), beam (46.275) and floor (46.075) to improve to 2-4 in WIAC dual meets this season.

Women’s Tennis Goes 1-2 In Season-Opening Saturday

The Gustavus Adolphus College women's tennis team opened its season Saturday with a 1-2 record after defeating Southwest Minnesota State University 6-3, but falling to the University of Northern Iowa 9-0 and the University of Sioux Falls 5-4. The Gusties sent part of their roster to Waterloo, Iowa to take on Northern Iowa and kept the other half in St. Peter to face Southwest Minnesota State. The Gusties then combined parts of the two rosters to take on Sioux Falls later in the evening.

Men’s Tennis Sweeps UW-Eau Claire, Saint John’s 9-0

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team continued its stellar start to the season on Saturday, as it swept both the Univeristy of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Saint John's University 9-0. The Gusties took down the Blugolds Saturday morning at the Swanson Tennis Center before making their way north to defeat the Johnnies in Sartell, Minn. The wins bump Gustavus to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the MIAC.

Men’s Hockey Shut Out 3-0 By Bethel

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s hockey team was shutout 3-0 by the Bethel University Royals Saturday night at Bethel University Arena-National Sports Center. Bethel played a consistent game, scoring once each period, leading to its three-point victory. The loss brings Gustavus to 6-13-4 overall and 5-7-2 in the MIAC, while Bethel improves to 3-18-2 overall and 2-12-0 in the league.
