ST. AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA – In its second outing of the young spring season, the Gustavus Adolphus women’s golf team suffered a dual loss to Flagler College at the Ponte Vedra Country Club on April 3. The Gusties shot a 320 (+40) to fall to Flagler who earned the victory by totaling a 304 (+24).

“This was a good showing for both of our squads,” said head coach Scott Moe. “We saw some really good things this week and had an amazing spring break trip at [1964 graduate] Bill Johnson’s house in Ponte Vedra Beach, practicing and playing at TPC Sawgrass and other fantastic courses in the area. I’m really happy with the week we had.”

Jordan Drenttel (Sr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) led the Gusties with a 76 (+6) to finish fourth overall. Drenttel’s score was just three strokes shy of Flagler’s Linn Weber who won individual medalist honors with a 73 (+3).

Next in line for Gustavus was Lauren Johnson (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) and McKenzie Swenson (Fy., St. Louis Park, Minn.) who tied for eighth place overall after each shooting an 80 (+10).

“Jordy did a nice job of leading us, and I thought the team played very well all week,” said Moe. “I’m excited for another competitive outing next weekend in Illinois.”

Gustavus will compete again when it travels to Normal, Illinois next weekend to play in the Illinois Wesleyan Invite on Saturday and Sunday.
