St. Peter, Minn. – Gustavus Adolphus to-be senior Chris Kelly (Savage, Minn.) has signed an amateur contract to play baseball for the Duluth Huskies of the Northwoods League.

Kelly, a right-handed pitcher, was added to the Huskie bullpen in late-July as the team makes its final push for a spot in the Northwoods League Divisional Playoffs, which are set to begin on Monday, Aug. 11.  At 14-13 with four straight wins under its belt in the second half of the season, Duluth sits in fourth place in the North Division.  Overall this summer, the Huskies have compiled a record of 23-40 for a seventh place standing.

Chris Kelly has made three pitching appearances (one start) since joining the club.  He is 1-0 with an ERA of 1.12 after logging a total of seven innings.  The Savage, Minnesota product’s victory came in a five-inning effort against Eau Claire on July 29.  In Duluth’s 5-1 win over Eau Claire in that contest, Kelly allowed just one run on five hits with a pair of strikeouts.

The Duluth Huskies will cap the season with series against Alexandria (Aug. 2-3), Eau Claire (Aug. 4,6), Wisconsin (Aug. 7-8), and  St. Cloud (Aug. 9-10).
