Le Sueur, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s golf team sits in third place with a score of 622 (+62) after day one of the Bobby Krig Invitational.  In a two-round opening day held at the Le Sueur Country Club, Gustavus opened the tournament with a 306 and then finished the day with a 316.  Saint John’s University leads the field of 15 teams with a 601 (+41) after shooting a 288 and a 313.  UW-Eau Claire rounds out the top three in second with a 304-308–612 (+52).

After 27 holes, Gustavus senior Tyler McMorrow (St. Cloud, Minn.) finds himself at the top of the 87-player tournament with a score of 147 (+7).  McMorrow shot a two-over 72 in round one and a five-over 75 in round two.  He sits just one shot ahead of St. Olaf’s Ryan Heide, St. Thomas’s Alex Kapraun, and Saint John’s Casey Vangsness who all posted 148s (+8).  Heider and Kapraun both carded back-to-back 74s (+4), while Vangsness shot a 69 (-1) followed by a 79 (+9).

Lee Bystrom (Sr., Buffalo, Minn.) ranks second on the team and 26th overall with an 80-77–157 (+17).  Andrew Oakes (Sr., Hermantown, Minn.) sits in 35th with a 77-83–160 (+20), Andrew Brandt (So., Medina, Minn.) ranks 45th with a 77-84–161 (+21), and Matt Jensen (Sr., Edina, Minn.) rounds out the squad in 59th with an 84-81–165 (+25).

The final round of the Bobby Krig Invitational will be held tomorrow at the Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan.  The Ridges at Sand Creek is a par-72 with a total distance of 6,961 yards.
