Northfield, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s track and field team finished fourth place with 80 points at the eight-team Carleton Relays held Saturday at Laird Stadium.  The University of Minnesota, Duluth won the meet with 208 points, Carleton College finished second with 133 points, and Minnesota State University, Mankato took third with 84 points.

Rachel Colter (Jr., North St. Paul, Minn.) and Anna McDevitt (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.) turned in Gustavus’s top finishes of the afternoon.  Colter won the javelin with a toss of 114-feet 2-inches and placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 39-feet 3.25-inches.  McDevitt won the triple jump after carding a leap of 34-feet 9.75-inches.

Nevada Wendlandt (Sr., Maplewood, Minn.) finished runner-up in the high jump after clearing 5-feet 1-inch and also took fifth in the pole vault after going over the bar at 10-feet 10.75-inches.

Both Sara Swanson (So., Fairbanks, Alaska) and Elizabeth Weiers (Jr., Le Center, Minn.) had a good afternoon in the throws with a pair of second place showings.  Swanson recorded a toss of 42-feet 6.25-inches in the shot put, and Weiers posted a throw of 166-feet 10-inches in the hammer throw.

Sara Lundgren (Jr., Mankato, Minn.) rounded out the squad’s top field performers with a sixth place leap in the long jump (15’ 2”).

Hana Fischer (Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) led the Gusties on the track with a sixth place finish in the 100-meter dash (13.27) and a seventh place performance in the 200-meter dash (28.158).

Haley Kemper (Jr., Prior Lake, Minn.), Mikaela Algren (Fy., Prior Lake, Minn.), and Marit Henckel (Jr., Viroqua, Wis.) rounded out Gustavus’s top finishers on the track.  Kemper placed fifth in the 400-meter dash (62.50), Algren came in sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (63.29), and Henckel finished sixth in the steeplechase (12:16.33).

The Gustavus track and field team will be in action next weekend when it hosts the Drake Alternative on Saturday, April 26 in St. Peter. Select members of the team will also compete in the Drake Relays being held April 24-26 in Des Moines, Iowa.
