Men’s Golf In Fourth After Day One Of 2011 MIAC Championships Posted on October 2nd, 2011 by

Alex Kolquist shot a 76 (+4) on day one to lead the Gusties at the MIAC Championships.

The Gustavus men’s golf team is currently in a three-way tie for fourth place after the first round of play at the 2011 MIAC Championships being held Oct. 1-3 at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn.  The Gusties shot a 308 (+20) on the opening day.

St. Olaf is the current leader after shooting a 301 (+13) on day one.  St. Thomas sits in second with a 302 (+14), while Bethel is in third at 304 (+16).

Alex Kolquist led the Gusties on day one, shooting a 76 (+4) to finish tied for seventh.  Andrew Oakes and Coby Rowley both fired a 77 (+5) and sit tied for 16th.  Trevor Gervais sits in 22nd at +6 (78) and Tyler McMorrow is in 28th at +7 (79).

Bethel’s Toby Robinson shot a one-over-par 73 to lead the field, while Ryan Lubinsky of St. Olaf and Coy Papachek are tied for second at 74 (+2).

The second round will begin at 11:20 a.m. tomorrow morning. Sunday’s tee times are dictated by Saturday’s results, with groups teeing off every eight minutes. The final 18 holes will start Monday at 9 a.m., with the awards ceremony to follow the conclusion of the final round.
