The Gustavus women’s basketball team is set to take on Bethel University in the quarterfinals of the MIAC Playoffs on Tuesday night in St. Peter, Minn. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. from Gus Young Court. The Gusties enter tonight’s contest as the #4 seed, finishing the regular season with an overall record of 16-9 and a MIAC mark of 15-7. Bethel finished fifth in the conference with an overall record of 15-10 and a MIAC mark of 13-9.
The Gusties and Royals have met twice previously in the MIAC Playoffs leading up to tonight’s bout. The Gusties came away with a 62-52 win on Feb. 20, 2006, and the Royals came out victorious 75-59 on Feb. 24, 2009. Both contests came in the MIAC Quarterfinal Round and were played in St. Peter.
Head Coach Mickey Haller’s squad is 2-0 against the Royals this season, winning 62-53 on Dec. 1, 2010 in Arden Hills, and 77-64 on Jan. 19, 2011 in St. Peter. The Gusties enter the MIAC Playoffs winners of 11 of their past 13 games.
