Katie Schenfeld Earns MIAC Golfer Of The Week Honors

Gustavus Adolphus senior Katie Schenfeld (Indianola, Iowa) has been named MIAC Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week for her performance at the SMSU Mustang Invite in Marshall, Minn. on Sunday, Sept. 26. Schenfeld took the tournament crown, after shooting a 75-75-150 (+6).

Gustavus Adolphus senior Katie Schenfeld (Indianola, Iowa) has been named MIAC Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week for her performance at the SMSU Mustang Invite in Marshall, Minn. on Sunday, Sept. 26.  Schenfeld took the tournament crown, after shooting a 75-75-150 (+6).  She shared the podium with Hawaii-Hilo’s Randi Ono.

This is the second time this season that Schenfeld has earned MIAC Golfer of the Week honors, receiving the award on Sept. 14 after winning the Georgianni Memorial UWEC Invite with a two day total 157 (80-77).

So far this season, Schenfeld has registered top-five finishes in all four tournaments in which Gustavus has competed.  Aside from her victories at the Georgianni Memorial Invite and SMSU Invite, she placed fourth at the Wartburg Invite (81-81-162) and fifth at the O’Brien National Invite (80-77-157).

Schenfeld, the reigning MIAC Champion, currently has a 78.3 (+6) strokes per round average heading in the MIAC Championship on Oct. 2-4 at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn.
