The Gustavus women’s golf team finished day one of competition in second place with a team score of 343 (+59) at the Wartburg Fall Invitational held at Centennial Oaks Country Club in Waverly, Iowa on Saturday.  UW- Eau Claire leads with a team score of 329 (+45), while Wartburg College is in third place with a team score of 347 (+63).  The 19-team competition will wrap up on Sunday, Sept. 12 at Centennial Oaks.

Individually, Katie Schenfeld and Taylor Drenttel are the only Gusties to break the top ten.  Schenfeld currently sits in fifth place with an 81 (+10), while Drenttel sits in a three-way tie for 10th with an 84 (+13).  UW-Eau Claire’s Emily Swift is currently in first place with a two stroke lead after shooting a 77 (+6) on day one.

“We need to play better tomorrow, more consistent,” said head coach Scott Moe.  “The course was difficult, but we need a better start.”
