Women’s Soccer Plays Luther College to 0-0 Draw in Two Overtimes Posted on October 18th, 2009 by

4023826811_b47b94d83bThe Gustavus Adolphus women’s soccer team battled non-conference opponent Luther College to a 0-0 tie after two overtimes on Sunday afternoon in St. Peter, MN. Neither team was able to score the game winning goal after 110:00 minutes of play. The Gusties go to 6-5-3 overall and 2-4-1 in the MIAC, while Luther travels home with an overall record of 7-6-2.

The result was exactly the same as one year ago with the Gusties playing the Norse to a 0-0 tie in Decorah, IA. In today’s game, the Norse out-shot the Gusties 12-6 and had the advantage in corner kicks 7-3. Gustavus goalkeeper Jessica Richert played a complete game and came up with four saves on the way to her second career shutout. Gustavus’s Ashley Anderson and Kristin Moen tallied the only two shots on goal in the contest while Luther’s Dani Meirick had six total shots with three of them being on goal.

The Gusties will resume MIAC play on Wednesday, October 21st, when they will play host to St. Thomas at 3:30pm.
