The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced the 2009 MIAC All-Tournament team and three Gustavus players have been selected for the prestigious honor. They are senior shortstop Rachael Click, senior centerfielder Emily Klein, and sophomore pitcher Erin Truebenbach. The Gusties, who are 35-7, finished second in the tournament compiling a record of 2-2 and will now play in the NCAA Tournament this weekend in Indianola, Iowa.

Click led the Gusties with a .286 average in four games as she went 2-for-7 at the plate. Both of Click’s hits were home runs. Teams were hesitant to pitch to Click as she was walked five times and hit by a pitch twice. She led the tournament in slugging percentage at 1.143 and in on-base percentage at .643.

Klein registered the biggest hit of the weekend for the Gusties when she drove in Mackenzie Weber with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to allow Gustavus to beat Hamline 5-4. Klein was 3-for-13 at the plate in the tournament with one run scored. She also stole two bases in two attempts.

Truebenbach compiled a record of 2-1 in three appearances for the Gusties with a 1.87 ERA. She scattered nine hits and allowed four earned runs in 15 innings of work, while striking out 15 and walking four. Truebenbach scattered three hits and allowed just one run in the Gusties 5-1 win over Bethel and then pitched five innings in relief of Callie Nelsen against Hamline and picked up the win while not allowing a hit or a run. She suffered the loss in the championship game to St. Thomas allowing six hits and three earned runs in three innings on the mound.
