The Gustavus men’s golf team finished eighth out of 20 teams at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational which was played at Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Illinois. Host Illinois Wesleyan finished first with a 36-hole total of 291-293–584, while the Gusties posted a total of 302-320–622. Gustavus was led by Ricky Copeland, who finished sixth individually with a total of 74-73–147.
John Anderson, who fired an even par 72 on Friday, struggled with an 85 on Saturday and finished 36th at 157. Josh Curb was right behind Anderson as he placed 41st with a total of 78-80–158. Derek Hilding, who placed 61st at 79-82–161, and AJ Olson, who placed 70th at 78-85–163, rounded out the scoring for the Gusties.
Gustavus will travel to Waverly, Iowa next Friday and Saturday, April 10-11 to take part in the Wartburg Invitational.
