The Gustavus men’s swimming team posted a 169-130 dual meet win over Carleton in St. Peter on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties won seven individual events and one relay during the meet. Matt Stewart and Skylar Davis led the way with two first place finishes each.

The seven individual event winners for Gustavus included Matt Stewart in the 100 free (47.97) and 100 fly (51.17), Skylar Davis in the 200 individual medley (2:01.37) and 500 free (4:46.30), Whitaker Davis in the 1000 free (10:03.56), Josh Seaburg in the 200 fly (2:02.1), and Clem Auyeung in the 50 free (:22.01). The 200 free relay team of Tyler Wakefield, Clem Auyeung, Matt Stewart, and Sam DeFranco also posted a first place finish in a time of 1:27.48.

The Gusties also took the top three spots in five different events including the 1000 free (Whitaker Davis, 1st, John Rice, 2nd, and Ben Stewart, 3rd), the 50 free (Clem Auyeung, 1st, Matt Stewart, 2nd, and Tyler Wakefield, 3rd), the 100 free (Matt Stewart, 1st, Tyler Wakefield, 2nd, and Dave Pearson, 3rd), the 500 free (Skylar Davis, 1st, John Rice, 2nd, and Whitaker Davis, 3rd), and the 200 individual medley (Skylar Davis, 1st, Dave Pearson, 2nd, and Billy Schultze, 3rd).

In one of the most exciting races of the meet, Gustavus’ Billy Schultze finished second in the 100 breaststroke, .02 hundredths of a second (1:01.52) behind Carleton’s Ted Marschall (1:01.50).

The Gusties will take part in the Minnesota Challenge next Friday and Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center in Minneapolis.
