Brooke Beskau Finishes 19th, Helps Women’s Cross Country Team Place Seventh At Dan Huston Invite Posted on October 12th, 2008 by

The Gustavus women’s cross country team finished seventh out of 13 teams at the Dan Huston Invitational hosted by Wartburg College on Saturday morning in Waverly, Iowa. Brooke Beskau led the Gustie women on the day as she finished 19th (out of 169) on the 6,000 meter course with a time of 23:25. Host Wartburg finished first with a total of 43. The Gusties totaled 175.

All of Gustavus’ top seven runners scored in the top 52 and all finished within one minute and 26 seconds of each other. The Gusties, whose plan has been to run in a pack all season, did just that on Saturday. After Beskau placed 19th in 23:25, Kelly Chaudoin crossed the finish line in 33rd place in a time of 24:03, followed by Vanessa Jones in 35th place with a time of 24:12. All of the other four Gustavus runners who would score on the day would finish within a minute of Jones. That group included Danielle Burgmeier (43rd in 24:46), Kathy Westergren (45th in 24:50), Megan Lundgren (47th in 24:56), and Kim Rostvold (52nd in 25:06).

The Gustavus women’s cross country team will take part in the Tori Neubauer Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin La Crosse on Saturday morning.
