The Golf Coaches Association of America has released its post-season awards following the NCAA Men’s Golf Championships and recognized Gustavus athletes Kyle Rohlfs (Fergus Falls, Minn.), Eric Harris (Eden Prairie, Minn.), and Jordan Hawkinson (Lindstrom, Minn.). Kyle Rohlfs was named to the PING All-America Third Team, while Eric Harris and Jordan Hawkinson were named to the PING Central All-Region Team.
Kyle Rohlfs, who finished second on the team with a stroke average of 76.3, paced the Gusties with a 72-hole score of 302 at the NCAA Championships to finish in a tie for 22nd place out of 180 competitors. Rohlfs’ highest finish occurred at the Frank Wigglesworth Blugold Classic in September when he shared medalist honors by firing a total score of 72-72–144.
Eric Harris posted five top ten finishes in ten competitions and was third on the squad with a stroke average of 76.4. Harris’ top finish came at the start of the season when he won the Augsburg Fall Invitational with a 36-hole score 72-72–144. Harris also finished in a tie for third at the MIAC Championships when he carded a score of 73-76-72–221.
Jordan Hawkinson, who led the team in scoring average at 75.7 in 20 rounds for the Gusties this season, posted a low round of 70 at the MIAC Championships where he tied for third overall. Hawkinson’s best finish came at the Augsburg Fall Invitational where he finished in a tie for second place. Hawkinson also finished in second or third in five of the nine competitions he participated in.
