Gustavus Adolphus College senior thrower Andy Klaers (Loretto, Minn./Delano) has been named MIAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 15, 2007. Klaers provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships with a winning throw of 160 feet, 6 inches at the Lee Krough Invitational held Saturday in St. Peter. Klaers also won the hammer throw (159-6) and finished sixth in the shot put (41-6 1/2).

Klaers, a health and physical education major, is the son of Joel Klaers of Rogers and Bobbi Klaers of Rockford and a 2003 graduate of Delano High School.

The Gustavus Adolphus men’s track and field team will continue its season at the Carleton Relays Saturday, April 21.
