Heat Sheets Posted for 2007 MIAC Track and Field Championships

Heat sheets have been posted for the 2007 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships to be held Friday-Saturday, May 11-12 at Clemens Stadium on the campus of Saint John's University in Collegeville. The Gustavus women finished second at last year's outdoor championships, while the men took third. St. Thomas is the defending champion for both men and women.

Preliminary Meet Program Posted for Drake Alternative Meet

The Gustavus Adolphus College track and field team will host the seventh annual Drake Alternative Outdoor Track and Field Meet Saturday, April 28 in St. Peter. Field events begin at 10:30 a.m. with competition in the javelin, hammer throw, and men's shot put. Running events begin at 12:15 p.m. with the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase and will follow a rolling schedule.

Andy Klaers Named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College senior thrower Andy Klaers (Loretto, Minn./Delano) has been named MIAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 15, 2007. Klaers provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships with a winning throw of 160-6 at the Lee Krough Invitational held Saturday in St. Peter.

Lisa Brown Named MIAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College sophomore thrower Lisa Brown (Lake Crystal, Minn./Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial) has been named MIAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the Week ending April 15, 2007. Brown automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the javelin throw with a facility-record throw of 146 feet, 1 inch at the Lee Krough Invitational Saturday.

Football to Host Augsburg in Final Game at Gustavus Stadium

The Gustavus Adolphus football team welcomes Augsburg College to Lloyd Hollingsworth Field Saturday for a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup. Saturday's game, the season's home finale, also marks the final game ever at the current Hollingsworth Field. The Gusties enter the game with a record of 3-4 overall, 1-4 in the MIAC, while Augsburg enters with a mark of 0-7 overall and 0-5 in the MIAC.

Lisa Brown Wins Javelin Throw at NCAA Championships; Cronen and Miest Earn All-America Honors

Gustavus Adolphus first-year Lisa Brown captured the national title in the javelin throw Saturday at the 2006 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill. Brown's Division III season best toss of 154 feet, 6 inches bettered her own Gustavus record by nearly 18 feet. Ashley Cronen (fifth) and Tanner Miest (eighth) added top-eight finishes in the 800-meter run and the 110-meter hurdles, respectively.

Shanna Dawson Named MIAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College sophomore jumper/vaulter Shanna Dawson (Fairmont, Minn.) has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 30, 2006. Dawson met an NCAA national provisional mark in the pole vault at the Drake Alternative Meet hosted by Gustavus last Saturday. Her mark of 3.45 meters (11' 3 3/4") ranks her first in the MIAC.

Track and Field Hosts Rain-Soaked Drake Alternative

The Gustavus track and field team came away with ten event wins Saturday its own Drake Alternative Meet in St. Peter. Sari Lindeman won both the long jump and triple jump in rain-soaked conditions to emerge as the only Gustavus athlete to record multiple individual event wins.

Joyce, Brown Capture Wins at St. Olaf Women’s Meet; Cronen and Brown Post NCAA Provisional Marks

The Gustavus Adolphus women's track and field team posted a number of top-ten finishes at Saturday's Manitou Classic hosted by St. Olaf College. Senior Kourtney Joyce won the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:52.05, while Lisa Brown placed first in the javelin throw with a school-record and NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 133 feet, 9 inches. Ashley Cronen finished third in the 800-meter run with a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 2:15.35.

Men’s Track and Field Fifth at Carleton Relays

The Gustavus men's track and field team captured a total of 16 top-eight finishes at Saturday's Carleton Relays, finishing fifth in the 18-team field with 79 points. St. Thomas won the meet with 130 points, edging out Saint John's (125), Minnesota-Duluth (121) and Minnesota State, Mankato (117). Tanner Miest won the 110-meter hurdles while John Retka captured the long jump title.
