Men’s Swimming Finishes Second at UW-Stevens Point Invitational Posted on January 21st, 2007 by

The Gustavus men’s swimming team finished second at the seven-team UW-Stevens Point Invitational which finished up Saturday evening. The Gusties were edged out for the title by UW-La Crosse in the final event of the meet. UW-La Crosse totalled 807.5 points, while Gustavus finished with 799.

The Gusties posted three first place finishes on the final day of the meet including Ben Hanson winning the 200 free, Skylar Davis winning the 1,650 free, and the 200 free relay team. Hanson also added a second place finish in the 1,650 free, while Davis added a third place finish in the 400 individual medley.

Other top finishes for Gustavus included Brian Amundson placing second in the 50 free, Matt Stewart placing third in the 200 fly, Billy Cuevas placing third in the 200 free, and Greg Pokorski placing fourth in the 400 individual medley.

Complete final team scores were: UW-La Crosse 807.5, Gustavus 799, St. Olaf 751.5, UW-Stevens Point 734.5, MSU, Mankato 415.5, University of North Dakota 125, UW-Eau Claire 30.
