UW-Eau Claire shot a second-round 288 Sunday at the Links at Northfork in Ramsey to jump from fifth to first at the Twin Cities Classic. The Blugolds hold a seven-shot lead over Saint John’s heading into the final 18 holes and a nine-shot advantage over both Central and host Gustavus.

Erik Tone (Sr., Willmar, Minn.) leads all Gusties with a 2-over-par total of 146 and is tied for fifth. Juniors Jordan Hawkinson (Lindstrom, Minn.) and Arie DeGrio (Grand Rapids, Minn.) are tied for 13th with 4-over-par totals of 148.

Concordia-Moorhead’s Jonathan Northard leads the medalist race at 2-under 142 after posting back-to-back 71s.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes at Hazeltine National in Chaska on Monday.
