The Gustavus women’s golf team shook off Friday’s fifth-place finish at the Cobber Open to post a team score of 325 on Saturday, good for third place after day one of the Concordia Invitational at Wildflower Golf Club in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Sophomore Rachel Roberg (Rice Lake, Wis.) fired the low round for the Gusties after shooting a 78 and is tied for third.

The Gusties are the highest-placed Division III team in the field heading into the final day, trailing North Dakota State (319 – Divsion I) and University of North Dakota (322 – Division II). Division II schools Augustana (S.D.) (326) and University of South Dakota (331) sit fourth and fifth, while MIAC rival St. Thomas is sixth after posting a score of 337.

First-year Kali Griggs (Burnsville, Minn.) is tied for seventh after firing an 80, while Breanne Staples (Sr., Windom, Minn.) and Lauren Runsvold (So., Fargo, N.D.) followed with an 83 and 84, respectively. Sophomore Kimbra Kosak (Grand Rapids, Minn.) and first-year Amanda Johnson rounded out the scoring for the Gusties with an 86 and a 96.

Sunday’s final round will begin with a 9 am shotgun start.
