The Gustavus men’s Nordic ski team continued its season Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 21-22 by participating in the NorAm SuperTour event at Mount Itasca Ski Area near Coleraine, Minn. The event served as the second of five Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) qualifiers for the NCAA National Collegiate Skiing Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo. in March.

Erich Ziegler (Sr., Crystal Falls, Mich.) recorded the top Gustie marks in both the freestyle and classic races, finishing 33rd in the classic (29:23.6) and 41st in the freestyle (25:41.4). Both runs, however, placed Ziegler in the top 16 among collegiate skiers. Senior Andy Rishavy (Alexandria, Minn.) was second-best among Gustavus skiers, placing 49th overall in the classic (30:04.5) and 68th overall in the freestyle (26:39.5).

The Gusties will travel to Cable, Wis. this weekend (Jan. 28-29) to compete in this season’s third CCSA Qualifier at Telemark Resort and Ski Area.
