The Gustavus women’s Nordic ski team continued its season Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 21-22 by participating in the NorAm SuperTour event at Mount Itasca Ski Area near Coleraine, Minn. The event served as the second of five Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) qualifiers for the NCAA National Collegiate Skiing Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo. in March.

Chandra Daw (Sr., Duluth, Minn.) was the highest placed Gustie skier in both the freestyle and classic races. Daw finished 20th in Saturday’s freestyle race with a time of 29:59.5 and added a 15th-place showing in Sunday’s classic event in a 33:27.4 clocking. Both times were within the top ten among collegiate racers. Laura Edlund (So., Forest Lake, Minn.) finished second among Gustavus skiers in both races, completing the freestyle in a 25th-place time of 30:52.3 and the classic in a 21st-place time of 33:55.1.

Nicole Olson (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) and Kelly Chaudoin (Fy., Ely, Minn.), fresh off top-eight finishes at last week’s Capital Square Sprints in Madison, Wis., were next best for the Gusties in the freestyle race, completing the 10-kilometer course in 30th place (31:24.0) and 31st place (31:33.1), respectively. Chaudoin added a 29th-place finish (35:28.4) in the classic.

The Gusties will travel to Cable, Wis. this weekend (Jan. 28-29) to compete in this season’s third CCSA Qualifier at Telemark Resort and Ski Area.
