Gustavus Adolphus sophomore swimmer Ben Hanson (Minnetonka,Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 13.

Hanson played a major part in Gustavus’ 122-120 dual win over St. Olaf on Friday, November 11. He won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:54.29, breaking his own pool record. In addition, he won the 500 freestyle with a season-best time of 4:47.66 and swam a crucial leg on a second-place 400-freestyle relay team that secured the victory in the dual.

Hanson also figured prominently in Gustavus’ first place finish at a triangular with Carleton and Hamline on Saturday, November 12. He picked up first place finishes in the 200 and 500 freestyles as well as anchoring the winning 200 freestyle relay.

The Gusties will travel to the Twin Cities this weekend, fielding teams for both the University of Minnesota Invitational (Friday-Saturday) and a dual with the University of St. Thomas (Friday).
