Men’s Golf Sixth After Day One of NWU Fall Preview Posted on September 19th, 2005 by

The Gustavus men’s golf team fired a team score of 304 Monday and find themselves in sixth place after day one of the Nebraska Wesleyan Fall Preview. The host Prairie Wolves are atop both the team and medalist standings after 18 holes as the team shot a team score of 292 to lead Emory University by four strokes, while Aaron Stockton leads all individuals by three strokes after shooting a first round 68. Gustie senior Clayton Johnson (Anoka, Minn.) is tied for third after carding a 72.

Sophomore Mark Stuckey (St. Peter, Minn.) fired a 74 and sits in a ninth-place tie, while Eric Harris (Soph., Eden Prairie, Minn.) drove, chipped and putted his way to a 75 and a tie for 17th place. Harris’ score, however, did not figure into the team score as he was one of two Gusties designated to play as an individual prior to the round. The other was sophomore Eric Tone (Willmar, Minn.), who ended his round with a 78. Jordan Hawkinson (Soph., Lindstrom, Minn.) was the fifth Gustavus golfer to shoot under 80, finishing with a 6-over-par 77.

The NWU Fall Preview will conclude Tuesday.
