Women’s Track & Field Competes at Lee Krough Invite Posted on April 18th, 2005 by

The Gustavus women’s track and field team hosted the fifth annual Lee Krough Invitational on Saturday, April 16 in St. Peter, Minn. No team scores were kept at the meet. Junior Kourtney Joyce (Wadena, Minn.) was the only Gustie to claim an event title on Saturday. Joyce recorded a time of 11:30.40 to place first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Junior Blythe Bittman (Fairmont, Minn.) placed second in two events at the home meet for Gustavus. Bittman finished second in the javelin throw with a distance of 33.23 and second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.93. The junior also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.61.

Other top finishers were sophomore Val Berquam (Kenyon, Minn.) (second place, 3,000-meter steeplechase), sophomore Carlie Hanson (Buffalo, Minn.) (third place, 400-meter hurdles), senior Ali Cordie (Sartell, Minn.) (fourth place, 400-meter hurdles), senior Kristi Schneider (Hastings, Minn.) (second place, pole vault), and first-year Shanna Dawson (Fairmont, Minn.) (fourth place, pole vault).

Gustavus will be back in action on Saturday, April 23 at the Carleton Invitational in Northfield, Minn.
