Women’s Indoor Track & Field Competes at MSU Open Posted on February 5th, 2005 by

The Gustavus women’s indoor track and field team traveled to Mankato, Minn. to compete in the Minnesota State University Open on Saturday, February 5. The competition consisted of Division I, II and III teams, however, no team scores were kept.

The Gusties won a running event and a field event on Saturday at the Myers Field House on the campus of Minnesota State University, Mankato. Junior Kourtney Joyce won the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:50.18. Gustavus senior Tasha Pike finished in second place in the 3000 meter run, just four-tenths of a second behind Joyce (10:50.51).

First year Shanna Dawson won the field event for the Gusties on Saturday. Dawson won the long jump with a distance of 17′ 4.75″. Dawson also tied for third place in the triple jump with a distance of 35′ 2″.

Gustavus return to action next Saturday, February 12 at the Ted Nelson Classic hosted by Minnesota State University, Mankato.
