Women’s Track & Field to Compete in the MIAC Championships May 7-8 Posted on May 7th, 2004 by

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s track & field team will travel to Northfield, Minn. to compete in the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. St. Olaf College is hosting the championships May 7-8.

The Gusties hope to improve on its second place finish the MIAC Indoor Championships and a second place finish in last year’s outdoor conference meet. Head Coach Tom Thorkelson expects the Gusties to be strong in the field events with the senior leadership of Jackie Luehmann (Throws, Lewiston, Minn.), Kristin Petersen (Throws, Hayfield, Minn.), Lindsey Weis (High Jump, Mankato, Minn.) and Shannon Martin (Vault, Welch, Minn.). In the sprints, the Gusties will be led by Blythe Bittman (Sophomore, Fairmont, Minn.), Ashley Cronen (Sophomore, Kandiyohi, Minn.), Maggie Stolp (Senior, Mankato, Minn.) and Kim Swanson (Senior, Minnetonka, Minn.). In the relays, the women are expected to do well in the 4×100 and 4×400.
