Women’s Track & Field Places Second at MIAC Indoor Championships Posted on March 7th, 2004 by

The Gustavus women’s track & field team finished in second place at the MIAC Indoor Championships at the McNeely Spectrum on the campus of Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota. The Gusties accumulated 94 team points to finish behind the University of Saint Thomas.

Gustavus claimed the 800-meter relay title and the 600-meter dash title. Seven Gustavus women earned all-conference honors at the championships.

The 800-meter relay team of Kim Swanson, Ashley Cronen, Maggie Stolp, and Blythe Bittman claimed the conference title with a time of 1:46.07. The women earned all-conference honors by winning the relay.

The team of Kim Swanson, Blythe Bittman, Ali Cordie, and Ashley Cronen placed second in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 4:01.53.

Junior Ali Cordie claimed the 600-meter dash title with a time of 1:30.42, which earned her all-conference honors. Sophomore Ashley Cronen placed third and Senior Kim Swanson placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 60.27 and 60.50, respectively. Cronen earned her second all-conference honor at the championships finishing in the top three in the 400-meter dash.

Senior Jackie Luehmann earned all-conference honors in the shot put and weight throw. Luehmann placed second in the shot put throwing a NCAA provisional distance of 42′ 11.5″. Luehmann also placed second in the weight throw with a distance of 46′ 10.25″.

Senior Shannon Martin jumped 11′ 1″ in the pole vault, which is a NCAA provisional height. Martin placed second in the event and earned all-conference honors for her efforts.
