Women’s Track & Field Competes at MSU Open Posted on February 7th, 2004 by

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s track & field team competed in the Minnesota State University Open on Saturday in Mankato, Minn. Joining the Gusties at the meet were Augsburg College, Concordia University, Dordt College, Dakota State University, Dakota Wesleyan University, Minnesota State University, Morningside College, Northwestern College, University of Minnesota, College of St. Scholastica and UW River Falls. No team scores were kept.

Jackie Luehmann was the only winner on the day for the Gusties. Luehmann won the shot put with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 44′ 8.25″. She finished sixth overall in the weight throw with a distance of 46′ 6″.

Molly Lager, Shannon Martin and Blythe Bittman put in notable performances for the Gusties. Lager finished third in the 1000 meter run with at time of 3:11.51. Martin tied for fourth in the pole vault with a height of 10′ 10.25″. Bittman finished fifth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.23.

The Gusties will be back in Mankato next Saturday competing in the Maverick Quad. Competition is scheduled to begin at 11 am.
