Women’s Basketball Defeats Hamline 91-49 Posted on February 2nd, 2004 by

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s basketball team defeated Hamline University 91-49 on Monday night in St. Paul, Minn. The Gusties improve to 15-4 overall and 13-3 in the MIAC, while the Pipers fall to 6-13 overall and 4-12 in the MIAC.

The Gusites shot 51.8 percent from the field and out rebounded the Pipers 43-29 on Monday night. Gustavus had three players in double digits to help them record their 15th win of the season. Kate Sandvig, Angie Peterson and Kristin Kachelmyer each had 12 points. Hamline was led in scoring by Jess Barrett with 12 points. Carolyn Korchik added 11 points for the Pipers.

The Gusties went on a 13-0 run early in the first half and never looked back. The Gusties led 46-27 at the half. Hamline shot 33.9 percent from the field and turned the ball over 35 times.

The Gusties will face Macalester College on Wednesday night in St. Paul. Gustavus beat Macalester 64-37 earlier this season in MIAC action on January 5. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
